Instagram!

I have a slight obsession with Instagram! This is by far my favorite app on my iPhone and as you can see I LOVE it! People find it hard to believe that these images were taken on a phone, but really...anyone can do it! Instagram is used to enhance what is already there! It takes any picture and makes it extra special and gives it that "oomph" to make people go "ahhhhh" and create one of a kind images! If you don't have it..GET IT...you won't be disappointed!

Whenever I take pictures of Maya I ALWAYS at least try to fix her hair! Tonight though, I was playing around with a lens I haven't used in a while and caught her in the moment. I love the look in her eyes in this picture. It reminds me of how innocent she is and how much responsibility I have.

Smiling is not necessary

Kids are funny. When they see a camera they automatically go into cheesy smiling mode! As a photographer I like capturing people in all forms but sometimes find it difficult with kids. My particular kid cannot....I REPEAT....cannot sit still!! This poses another challenge! Yes, I'm guilty of bribing her with candy just as any good parent with a camera does. :) And you know what? It works!! 9 times out of 10 she will sit still for a good 3 minutes and take direction.... and this is enough for me to get what I need. And on this particular day my baby delivered!

Under the circumstances I think I got some great shots of baby Raeleigh Jo! Rainy weather, no enough light, and a sad baby were ever present, but I think mommy and grandma are going to be surprised! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year! Enjoy!

The holidays are certainly different when you have a child! I'm grateful that I get to spend my fourth Christmas with this girl....she is my reason for the season! How could I ask for anything more?

I'm usually on top of things, especially when it comes to taking pics of my daughter. As she gets older though she's expressing her opinion much, much more, so it's harder to get her out the door! For example, she ALWAYS has an opinion about what she wears. This dress she says is "tooooo redddd." (I know, you're saying, "but it's in black and white...well...color pics are coming soon). She does not want anything in her hair nor does she want it pulled up, or back, or any other way for that matter! In the end I won the fight for the dress and she won for the hair. It's times like these that I will remember. I have to give in at times...I want her to know that her opinion matters and it's important for her to know that it's ok for her to HAVE an opinion. However, when it comes to posing for the camera, she knows that MY opinion is the only one that counts :) She's a good girl.

JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes: Houston, TX Event Photographer

I was so excited to shoot the JDRF walk to cure diabetes for the second time! Last year was so much fun and I'm so grateful I got asked again! This is a huge event to raise money for juvenile diabetes. Although I'm not sure about the numbers for this year, I know it is well over 1 million dollars!
